I’m writing this more than a decade after the movie came out, but I figure at least a few people are getting around to actually watching it, so I’ll go ahead anyway.
Cars 2 is a prime example of why I don’t trust critics for anything. This movie is great. It connects pretty well with the end of the first film, and it still has a lot of focus on racing while also giving a bit more depth to Mater, who is very prominent in the first film but also not particularly complex.
I have no idea what critics have a problem with here, but fortunately, it seems like most of the audience reviews are spot on. As such, I feel confident in saying that if you aren't a pretentious snob and you liked the first film, you’ll like this.
