I first read this book in the 9th grade. I don't think the school really knew what it was; no kid in school actually checked out books from the non fiction section. Yet here I was, a 14 year old who had read every series in the young adult section. I didn't even check to see what the book was about, but it didn't take long to realize this book wasn't your typical "young adult" novel. I'm now 24 and this book still comes to mind. The fascination this book sparked in me... my appreciation and admiration for viruses and the complex existence it has in its hosts... I can go on for hours on this stuff. It really put the recent pandemic into perspective for me; say what you will on how the virus was handled, I understand the fear associated with rapid virus mutation. I recommend this book not only to people curious about Marburg and Ebola, but for those who want to explore the medical field. Be aware that the details and descriptions may make some people uncomfortable, but it's well worth the read.
