I must disagree with this as a "waste of time." True, the narrative flounders but that's true of a lot of movies that still manage to leave an impression. I see on the DVD box (One dollar at a dollar store) that it has a copyright for 2011. I'm wondering if the bleak view of life was too much in the year of 9/11. I didn't laugh very often, but perhaps that was because I took a lot of the themes to heart. It's not Scorsese, but there was some very interesting thinking on display. I would only recommend it to people who are in a very good mood, because while it has a lovely ending, the journey through it is downbeat. Be brave, movie watchers... not everything can be "The Wizard of Oz".
