Trigun Stampede in my opinion is one of the best anime this season. I can’t understand why people are giving it such bad reviews.
The cgi is great, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t really like cgi at all. I prefer 2d.
The story is exciting and fast paced, it leaves you at the edge of your seat most episodes , after every episode I can’t wait for more!
Even if you haven’t watched the 98’ trigun or read the manga it’s a good experience.
Down to the nitty gritty-
It’s a fun prequelesque retelling, you definitely feel the darker vibes present in the manga pretty early and there’s a ton of set up for a grander plot than the original 98’ adaptation.
It may seem ‘rushed’ in comparison to the ‘98 anime as it spent 12-15 episodes on mostly filler( which wasn’t a bad thing honestly but ima leave it at that because this is a stampede review!)
I think it stands on its own legs rather than leaning on any previous version, there were a lot of issues with the manga plot(holes) that felt rushed or shoehorned that feel like they are being reworked in stampede to flow better and improve character development and I’m loving that. We get to see Livio, explore his relationship with wolfwood and see thier full backstory, we get an in-depth look at our main antagonist Knives and his motivations and reasons for his beliefs, we get a more lore oriented view of the eye of Michael and the Gung ho guns and it’s more elusive member Elendira. It’s not the 1:1 accurate manga adaptation we wanted but the changes made so far IMHO enhance the story, explaining things we could only speculate originally. It’s fantastic and I only wish more people could take off thier milly blinders and angst over aesthetics and see how wonderfully detailed a story orange has woven here.
I could write about this forever but you should take my word or any of these reviews word for it, just go watch it an make your own assessment! (PS-things really start to pick up in episode 3 btw)
