I thought the miniseries was somewhat heavy on the drama and light on many technical details. Some details were present, however they seem repetitive and long winded in their explanations. To use an old vernacular, there were too many bosses and not enough subordinates. Every time I thought tasks were focusing on the primary problem with Fukushima, the problem got annoyingly redefined. It could be the way the events occurred or it could have to do with the way facts were introduced. Comparing this miniseries to “Chernobyl” is like comparing apples and oranges. The cultures and events at play are very different. Both miniseries concern nuclear science and flawed decision making scenarios. However if you’re expecting similarities to “Chernobyl”, as an American, prepare to be disappointed. The entertainment value is not the same. Granted, I’m speaking from a westerner’s point of view, but let’s face facts. When it comes to films and miniseries, one of top 2 economic powers in the world had better be considered for ultimate success. Finally, as for this miniseries, I’d give points for decent acting, but criticize the convulsive storyline and plot. I’ve viewed other series that were made to viewed by English speaking westerners, and with some relatively small adjustments, the miniseries could be shortened and streamlined to provide a better viewing experience.
