This is the first film I have watched that I believe really explores the graphic truth of the colonisation of Australia.
Nightingale holds nothing back and fully embraces the reality of the British colonial era.
I went to watch this expecting a mildly trashy but satisfying film on female empowerment. Instead I spent the next two hours completely transfixed and deeply deeply moved.
Watch this with the knowledge that similar events have occurred in Australia in living memory.
I sobbed through the film and it honestly changed my perspective on Australia's history.
This film is beautiful and heartbreaking and I could not recommend it enough.
