Pretty good movie, that could have been fantastic. They just needed to remove the Luma character completely, and keep the scare-factor in the early “Luigi-Dark-Lands-Scenes” at a level consistent with mild video games from the Nintendo series.
Other than those 2 missteps, the movie is loaded with silly game references and a plot that is very much expected, which I thought was actually just right for the intended audience.
They did good work to build the Nintendo brand in my opinion, and I think the film will be watched many times by my boys (ages 7 and 9) when it comes out on streaming. If nothing else, I want to watch it again myself to enjoy the musical score (which turns a 6 out of 10 movie into an 8 out of 10 for me).
