If you’re watching this because you read the books, then don’t watch it. If you just want to be entertained and dazzled by sci-fi cinematics, then go ahead, but don’t expect that out of the books. I see positive reviews about the show from a lot of people who say they haven’t read the books, but enjoyed the show. Most of them comment about the casting and a modern world. I personally don’t watch films because they reinforce my viewpoints, but so I can widen my viewpoint of the world.
If you’re watching this show for reinforcement of modern day value propositions, then you won’t be disappointed. It’s very predictable. If you’re watching it because you want to see the story of the foundation or foundation and empire, then don’t bother. The novellas were written over 80 years ago. As someone else said, artistic license is welcome, but don’t call it Foundation. There’s nothing Foundation about the show unfortunately. I was extremely excited to watch this and let down very badly by how little it represented the tenants of the novels. Even the style and ethos of what the books were attempting to do is not achieved.
