This movie was hyped up for apparently no reason. The concept/plot was weak from the get-go. Michael B Jordan's dialogue with his twin seemed like a bunch of mumbo jumbo not leading to any real suspense or plot buildup. Not to mention the fake southern accents were incredibly horrible. I kept hearing prior to watching that the movie was filled with so much mystery and hidden meaning, but found nothing of the sort. I would say this was on elementary level of being interpreted and not a movie that will continue to gather questions about it in the next 5 years (i.e. like inception or the matrix). I also think that for the budget had for this movie, they could've chosen more intriguing shots/locations. Its been films made for half then less the price and incorporated a multitude of shooting locations. There was alot of shoe-horning in of concepts, especially with the Klan. Usually I'd be ecstatic that a KKK member got justice done to them, but the way it was put in at the end didn't really hit like it should have. Plus the whole drifting off of Jordan's character between the realm of life and death I felt was a copy from Gladiator when Maximus saw the Elysium. I will admit though, the only true excitement of the film was the Vampires glowing eyes in the dark, but even that fascination for me died just as quickly. The means to which the main Vampire died made no sense either. I actually loved how Coogler did Black Panther and watched it multiple times, but it wont be the same for this movie. I'm wondering if Hollywood is suffering so bad that it rushed the writing and production of this movie? Whatever the reason I'd give this movie a 0 out of 10.
