Right from the start, the scene is set with an immersive story with a backdrop of 1930s Southern America. All the characters are given enough time to pad out their individual paths that led them together. So many references that are often overlooked from their backgrounds that give a deeper insight to the landscape of the time. From the Klan, the first World War, migrants from Ireland, a Cherokee group who try to warn them, none of these are a focal point but are thrown in to the tapestry of a thoroughly enjoyable film. Amongst the time of the depression, prohibition and Jim Crow these well rounded characters take you away on an unsuspecting supernatural journey. I tried to keep this free from spoilers and hope You enjoy it as much as we did. There's a nice touch where it brings it up to date too but you'll have to watch it yourself. Recommended!
