Great visuals and atmospherics and clever with using the shadow of Nosferatu's figure and hand to represent his seeming supernatural evil reach. Otherwise, it is a catastrophic letdown. This film killed the best parts of Bram Stroker's Dracula which are the themes of love, friendship, bravery and hope and replaced it with the emptiness of ambition, lust and a misunderstanding of what made good films great - compelling character arcs and plot. I came away not invested with any of the characters and was waiting for it to be over with about 3/4 of the way in. I was also especially disgusted with the decision to have the "children" (The two little girls and the unborn baby in the womb) killed by the antagonist (Count Orlok) for nothing other than in a misplaced attempt to induce shock in the audience. I personally am against any depiction of violence against children and if a film maker really wanted to portray it anyway, there better be a good and compelling reason to do so because in this film, there wasn't. Most of the characters were disposable and were not needed for the plot to move forward and thus I had very little to no connection to any of them. As they were disposable, there were no stakes. No stakes means no involvement and no involvement means that I come away feeling that I wasted a good amount of money and time with this movie. My recommendation is if you really want to watch this movie, just stream it on a free site online. Dont. Waste your money.
