A marvel of programming but a complete disaster of a pirating sim.
Cons:
Story falls flatter then a sheet of paper
Utter lack of Immersion
Zero Swashbuckling (a pirate themed ship game without cutlasses and flintlock pistols in melee is just a boring ship sim)
Grindy
Bugs out the wazoo making an already tedious game unplayable in my opinion
Unchallenging at every level outside of testing one’s patience with a variety of excessively bullet spongy enemy ships
Pros:
Grindy (if you are into something repetitive and simple with an endgame you reach quite quickly that consists of very limited activities all surrounding the grind of only a few currencies with everything else coming in tandem, more power to you)
The game has amazing graphics. Top notch environments, weather, ship combat effects, etc…
I personally found the escape into a mindless yet simple grind with decent environments/effects for my eyes to enjoy to be the game’s only saving grace; but, the lack of immersion due to a lack luster story & no swashbuckling combined with how unpolished the game is which is evidenced by the plethora of bugs tells me the game is currently not worth it’s hefty price tag. Perhaps, down the road after the addition of more immersive elements and endgame variety, I might recommend playing it to just about anyone; but, for now, I’d only recommend purchasing this title if you are into grindy sims or are out of actual B+ titles to play (let alone actual AAA/AAAA titles).
