I don't think I have ever put a review in here, if I have it was a very, very long time ago.
But I felt I needed to, if anyone happens to read this.....
So you know when there is one of those prolific movies, the kind that seem to change the way movies are made, become a pop culture phenom, become a cult movie, become legendary, change the way we think about society, or just in general make us think about the future and the place humans will have in it.... Some examples that I can think of are Jaws, Star Wars 1978, and The Matrix. I am sure there are many more, but these 3 stick in my mind(esp The Matrix).
This movie, IMO, has topped the list of these movies. It does this in every way a movie can. The story is prophetic, I see that someday(maybe not in my lifetime, but my daughters) the events in the movie will come true. There will be AI robots, it is a certainty, and we as a society will have to deal with the problems that it creates. Some day people will look back a say, "remember that movie The Creator, they got so much right". Nothing in this movie seems unobtainable. It all feels like it is grounded in some future reality.
The other reason this movie is at the top is it VFXs. This movie was made for $80 million. But watching it on IMAX, it feels like it cost 20 times that easily. The effects will just blow you away.
I am not going to give you a step by step review. All I am here to say is, if you have the chance, please go watch this movie, and if it's still possible, watch it in IMAX. It is one of those movies that was made for the large screen. Filled with Sci-Fi landscapes, straight out a manga, you can tell that Edwards was going for an anime touch here. The way that a futuristic world was put into real places is seamless.
Please, don't miss this one!!
