I can't leave a review on the steam page since I only played the demo, so I'll just do it here instead, but the demo was all I needed to know that this game has literally no identity. There's nothing special I could find in this game (demo) that sets it apart from other story-driven games, It follows loads of common tropes, and I'll just name a few here:
"Character loses something/someone and has to go find them"
"Character encounters random monster they can't understand"
"Character gets saved by random guy"
"Character goes insane and has edgy thoughts"
and so on.
Of course, this is a little narrow due to the fact that I only played the demo, but the gameplay is literally just a walking simulator at one point. The writing is so plain, that I generally just skipped through a lot of it and was still able to understand what was going on. I didn't give it a 1 star because I do like some of the music & art, but that's about it for me.
BTW; Earthbound, a 90s game, has diagonal walking sprites, and this game couldn't even implement them...
I only remembered this game because of the boiling water the dev has landed themselves in recently, and it seems like it's barely progressed since the last time I saw it before this review, so this game is probably doomed to the Yandere Simulator fate lol
