While the action sequences are well choreographed, there is an underlying cruelty and brutality under the comedy of this film that is disturbing. The final third features 100s of people's heads exploding. But to reduce the gore so they can get a certificate that will allow the film to be shown to teenagers, they inexplicably go pop with a colourful puff of smoke. Thats' not what happens in the comic book, as you can imagine.
Maybe because the world is increasingly overpopulated, we feel less humanity for other people, and so it's increasingly OK to depict hundreds of people dying in a sickly comedic way.
