The writing in this piece of work is definitely a piece of work. Surprised Ms. Washington even agreed to star in this trope. It's like a failed attempt at For Colored Girls...smh. I don't even have the heart for proper in-depth analysis. It hurt to watch and not in a sentimental way. I'm bewildered at her (Ms. Washington) depiction of a black woman PhD psychologist incapable of rationality let alone practical psychological analysis of her identity-stemming high school senior. And it's astonishing how inconsistent a storyline can be with people still applauding. We deserve much better writing from a screenwriter and director seeking to tell the story of the many men, women, and children who've been murdered unjustly. Give us a story that does JUSTICE to the lives lost and lose these contrived, racist, victim-blaming, conspiratorial, maligned versions of storytelling written by what appears like sociology TAs for the laymen and lamb amongst us.
