So far so good in my view. I’ve looked at most criticisms, and I can’t see where this show fails and others somehow succeed. The same problems exist, but the strengths are there in full force. This is a deep dive into Ahsoka’s character post OT. We see that she still struggles with the fall of Anakin years after his redemption, and thus cannot fully achieve her fullest potential. As for the other characters, I am liking sabines struggle with self doubt and longing. Despite the name, the star of this show thus far is Baylan. Despite all appearances he is strangely more Jedi than sith. He was a strong Jedi who felt disappointed with the order. He chose to fall in line with either side of the conflict and instead went his own path. Baylan is a more principled version of Dooku, given that he was not constantly being manipulated by the likes of Palpatine. As for criticisms, I believe the pacing could be better. The show looks fantastic, the sound and music are S tier, and the plot is solid. It does however seem to draw out certain scenes that could stand to be shortened. My thought here is that this was filmed like a feature film and lengthened into a show in post. Similar to how Kenobi was meant to be a film, but got turned into a show. However, where Kenobi failed, Ahsoka shows more promise as things get rolling. There are a lot of bad faith criticisms of this show. I believe that is because Disney has managed to break the trust of the fans. They upended Dave and Jon’s vision for the mandalorian via reinserting grogu back into the series. They fired Gina while allowing the main star to call fans national socialists. They lazily put together obiwan. I need not mention how Disney handled the sequel trilogy. There’s a lot of bad blood between fans and the franchise holders. I don’t believe it’s merely a problem of leadership, but also an issue of stockholders and other executives. Disney needs to allow the talent to do their job and cut the shareholders from viewing the product until completion. They believe their share should dictate direction, but they betray their own long term interest. I have faith in Dave to right the course, but changes will need to be made in order to allow these products to become successful. Selling Disney+ subscriptions should not be the goal. It should be to foster your fan base. If this is done, many more will follow. That’s how Star Wars was made in the beginning.
