I love reading because it brings emotions to the surface and it’s healthy to really feel emotions. I cried at least 5 times while reading this book - not because of the unimaginable abuse graphically detailed - but because of the depth of care each of the characters feels for the others. It’s an ode to the transformative power of friendship. As someone who has been given the gift of amazing friends, this book helped he to reflect on my own fortunate circumstances. It was a gift from my daughter for Mother’s Day and she absolutely knew it would be a hit after reading the back cover. She was 100% correct. It is so tragic in places but beautifully written.
