The movie feels draggy and the direction of the story is unclear at best, the only thing going for it is the sad, overused, emotional appeal (his in-movie family and his career problems) to keep the movie going. The horse actions are quite entertaining and am finding myself waiting for more horse action scenes. To be fair, Jacky also has a number of fight scenes but the fighting style is already tired and of course he’s much slower as well as, well, tired. The daughter’s acting is also not so believable, especially in sad scenes. It’s actually quite hard to watch Jacky’s old self in such sad, downbeat script. We all know he’s way past his prime and it’s been awhile but it’s just awful to watch him in such setting / script. The clips / replays of his past, in-his-prime feats serve to remind us that fact he’s past his prime. I understand that this is a “tribute” movie but honestly I was expecting something better and this feels like they released it hoping, by slapping the great brand of Jacky Chan to deliver success. Instead, this movie feels like the announcement that he’s finally going to retire from acting.
