This is me giving a very honest review. I was not satisfied with the film and without a doubt, the book is way better. The film seemed very rushed as each scene was so short, and so because of this you weren’t really able to understand the two main characters relationship dynamic - Tessa and Hardin.
Their relationship happened so quickly in the film so for me it just didn’t build enough to make viewers understand why Tessa liked Hardin so much that she would cheat on Noah. In the book, Tessa and Hardin didn’t like each other and Hardin was actually quite rude and cold towards Tessa before they got together and they didn’t really show that in the film - he just seemed distant but romantic and loveable.
Also, the relationship between Tessa and Landon was actually quite important in the books which in the film was barely there - Landon was seen as Tessa’s best friend, along with the other characters like Steph as she was also close with Tessa.
The film mainly only focused on Hardin and Tessa’s relationship and so the other characters like Steph, Landon, Zedd, Jace barely had any lines when they should’ve played a bigger role.
And the ending was changed! Why? They changed the bet to Hardin making Tessa fall in love with him instead of taking her virginity which totally takes away from the climax of the film! It was honestly such a let down. It just would’ve been much more of a shock to use the original bet in the book.
Overall, the film was very underwhelming and anyone would be better off reading the book instead.
