I own various Bible versions and many Study Bibles of various denominational affiliations. All of these are having pros and cons, agree on certain points and completely disagree on some theological aspects. But what they all have in common, they are faithfully committed to represent their denomination’s core beliefs and biases. Baptists and Pentecostals won’t use the same study bibles, and it’s fine. But what I find interesting about this Study Bible, it’s mainly the fact that Dake is commenting without denominational bias, in fact, every denomination will question his work, many will call him an heretic, but none will be able to prove him 100% wrong without stating their own denomination’s biases. And that, from a critical standpoint, is highly valuable. That’s what make this Bible stand out from the plethora of versions and commentaries. He uses the Bible to explain the Bible. And I may not agree with him all the time, and it’s ok and normal since his work is basically a commentary, he didn’t rewrite the Bible after all. He is a man like so many that tried to clarify and explain biblical texts and biblical truths, and as with any men, opinions may alter their personal views on certain points. So for this reason, I use this Bible with other study bibles and explore many views and many times, it will give me a broader perspective an enlightenment on theological issues. Sometimes it’s going to be with Dake, other time it will be with ESV Study Bible, or CSB or NIV… No one man has the whole understanding of the whole Bible, it helps to explore the understanding and revelations of various people.
