Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise movie is a one from 1987...Thus it doesn't have those computer generated animation but pure handmade animation. Every frame has been made by hand and by physical means. This is just adds even more depth to the movie. The movie is set in a parallel world which is Civilization wise similar to mid 20th century (1960 around)... And because it is a parallel world, this ads a whole new dimension of creativity because you can make stuff different from our world while also maintaining the basic similarity of our world objects to the parallel world objects... Therefore, you will feel very familiar with everything while also recognising this is not our own world but a parallel dimension. Now coming to the themes itself in the movie... There are basically two Nations The Kingdom of Honnêamise and The Republic of Theasto... The rivalry feel similar to USA and USSR rivalry in our own world. We are basically set in the scene of Honnêamise and the main story is of this guy named Shirotsugh Lhadatt... He is part of the space force and will become the first astronaut of the world... It will show his growth as a character from delusioned at first to a guy who is more determined with the stronger will... This happens because of a girl he meets named Riquinni via whom he find some kind of religious/ spiritual purpose. She is like the anchor which gives the Shiro guy his strength also, the relationship itself is quite complicated ... Which I also believe is a sign of humanity and its complication. There is a little boy Manna which I believe is a symbol of humanity of our people and the innocence. Finally, the theme of this movie surrounded by war , assassination , geopolitics and power competition. All of these themes you can see in this movie. And how it affects the space mission itself. But the space force team in itself is a very determined scientific team who is basically passionate about science and space... In spite of all the power, politics and military politics that is happening around the space force branch . The theme of poverty, economy, where the money should go... Is also shown in the movie... The strak contrast...and when finally Shiro arrives in the space nothing matters ... All the issues of human Civilization are there sitting on the earth while he is setting in the orbit of the earth in space... Leaving all of that behind but even then he also talks about that. How this space Frontier can itself become another battle field of humanity and various Nations. That whole speech when he gives in the orbit of the parallel Earth is remarkable to listen and read (because I was reading in subtitles obviously). Finally this is a movie that I can recommend to literally every single person... The theme it tackles.... The way they have shown the space and aviation sectors and the whole technology is so real while also maintaining the creativity because after all this is parallel world is so so good. This is a movie that honestly everyone should watch.
