XBox One Review.
Released in May 2018 State of Decay 2 is a lot of fun, If you can tolerate the rage inducing bugs and glitches. The higher the difficulty the more amplified the bugs get and it's the pop-in that infuriates the most. Considering that a game-play mechanic involves vehicle deterioration and destruction, avoiding contact with npc's becomes impossible when they appear without notice. To Undead Labs credit they have continued to support the community with a constant stream of updates, but sadly fixing the games most glaring issue doesn't seem to be a priority.
The gameplay mechanics are involved and engaging, decision making is a big part of the game, combat is mostly good and requires finesse, get sloppy and you get dead. Building up a base is satisfying, managing morale is ok. Graphically the game is good, especially the day night sequence that is used to good effect, but there's no change in weather.
Overall there's fun to be had but 3 years on the bugs still ruin what is potentially a legendary game, the fanbase is awesome and very supportive and Undead Labs seem committed to realizing the potential of what they created. Here's hoping.
