I have watched a lot of sappy Christmas movies (they’re great for doing laundry and sock-sorting, as you don’t have to be too cued in to the dialogue). I had some hope for this new one (A Castle for Christmas) when I saw the cast, and more importantly, the location. I love Scotland. Almost immediately though, I feared it was false hope. But I kept it running, waiting for just the slightest of chemistry (I don’t expect much with this genre) to emerge somewhere, anywhere, in any scene. That never happened. This might be the worst, most awkward, most poorly written and even most poorly executed Christmas movie I’ve even endured. As I’ve said, my expectations are already low when I load up my clothes basket and hit play on a Christmas romcom, but this movie hit an all-time low. How do I know? Sock-sorting was more entertaining.
