I enjoyed the film for its gallantry in breaking all the rules of storytelling with a slap in the face against most stereotypes. It is very French noir with its stylistic fatalism and moral ambiguity which we rarely see African-American actors experience. I loved the profound psychological cynicism in what I consider a true work of art. This is the type of film that will not be appreciated in its day - but will stand the test of time for its hidden brilliance. A real gem of a movie. I loved it. This director takes chances and I applaud him and both actors for being so daringly authentic.
