I normally don't write reviews but after watching this I couldn't help myself. As a fan of Hindu epics and the timeless wisdom expounded in them, this was a utter disappointment and such a huge miss. Even though India has provided the world with original classics written in the ancient and sacred Sanskrit texts like the Ramayana epic, this movie had scenes so obviously ripped off from so many other movies - Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes, Aquaman, Avengers, Thor to name a few. Dialogue was less then sub-par, unmeaningful and pretty much non-existant. Pivotal scenes were rushed and emphasis given to over-dramatised and extended Bollywood style scenes. None of the actors were convincing in their role and did not look the part. The entire story line was filled with inaccuracies right from the first scene with the boon given to Ravana by Bramha when in fact the Ramayana epic described Ravana receiving a boon from Shiva for uncomparable might as he was a devout Shiva devotee. In this particular case, they mixed up a storyline from another Hindu epic - the boon described in the movie was given to Prahlad's father Hiranyakashipu. CGI was horrendous in most scenes. We have epics that surpass Shakespeare in culture but the resulting product here is like that of an uncreative child that rips off CGI, mixes up storylines, non-existant dialogue and no discernable wisdom expounded. Absolutely pathetic, unoriginal and an insult to the original epic. We had a chance here to make something great better and we made it much much worse.
