A friend of mine told me about how amazing this this book is for teachers. My response was pretty standard, “oh yeah, that sounds good.” I’m pretty jaded when people tell me about “life changing” teacher books. Usually these books discuss innovative classroom strategies, management techniques, scaffolding blah blah blah… I don’t want to read any more books about how to be a good teacher! I get that during my monthly PD.
However, my friend had me listen to a radio interview of Jess talking about her book. She discussed the mental fatigue, emotional burnout, and strained relationships that come with teaching. I was hooked.
I’m halfway through the book and struggle putting it down. This book truly has saved my teaching career and helped improve relationships with not only my students and coworkers, but my friends and family. I recommend this book to anyone whose ever taught or is currently teaching. It’s not another “teach like a champion”, trust me.
