Got 8 chapters in and had to abandon because I was dreading reading this book. Is it possible to make a main character more annoying than this one? Maybe. It’s just hard to believe that MC is in her late 20s. She sounds like a whiny child who has to do her self righteous chants every other line of the page. I kept thinking that maybe this was setting us up for great character development… but reading some other reviews… I guess not. There are a million ways to make this book enjoyable and the author missed the mark on all of it. It’s really a cute idea for a book. I was hoping for a cute and cozy read that was full of picturesque, magical moments and instead I got blasted with “feminist” rants from a whiny character. Please paint strong women in a better light next time. They don’t have to say they’re awesome, they show it. I’m glad I stopped reading it but pissed that I paid for this book.
