Awesome movie. Best among so far movies based on real stories on cricket/cricketer. No BS, no item songs, no family drama, no love scenes or love games, etc. Just purely 83 world cup based movie.
The criticism faced by Indian cricketers be it behind their back or straight on their faces , by the Indians and the world. Nothing yet let them down and stopped them from winning the world cup is what the whole movie portrays.
Every outside field story too had relevance, like they showed Mr. Sandhus engagement breaking off during the middle of the tour, per me what the director meant to show is firstly, that the Indian cricketers weren't even paid off well back, so that brings to second point that, money was not even basic reason/motivation for the Indian cricketers to win the cup
Then the story about everyone wanting extra passes for the near and dear ones to watch the finals, but when India during finals starts losing wickets, gets hammered by the WI team batting, people with passes lose hope and start leaving the ground tearing up those same passes.
N lastly hats off to every single actor that played the role. It's easy to be ourself n live the moment n move on. But the actors had to get into the character of the cricketer's role they were playing and be them adopt their style. In regular movies the actors have the freedom to act their way, their style and even deliver dialogues in their manner. Here none of the actors portraying someone's role had any of those freedom, yet they did it with all ease and made the movie worth the watch even more than twice, thrice.. even the sardar n his group or the small kid among the spectators did a brilliant job. Sardar n his group were just too natural with the acting , while the kid actually got tears in my eyes too for he never ever lost hope in the Indian team or the skipper.
All in all. A movie just tooo good. Definitely recommended
