I binge watched the first season with ease while laying in bed feeling sick. It’s clearly binge-able... I’m just not sure I would’ve made it all the way through if not for being sick in bed.
The trouble mostly started with the main storyline - the premise started off strong, but showed itself to be seriously flawed by the end of S1. The side storylines were equally problematic. (I know this is a fictional show, but part of what makes a show in this genre compelling for me is how realistic it seems.)
For me there were just too many unbelievable plots involving side characters. Namely:
#1) the ongoing abuse of foster kids (probably the most believable side story)
#2) the rapist as it relates to psycho mom
#3) psycho mom all by herself, and
#4) the unethical therapist
Add to it the main storyline - the ex-gf of a serial killer is released from prison and put into witness protection. She conveniently can’t remember if she assisted with the murders or not, but gains pieces of her memories back over the course of S1 - and you’ve got a series that is a bit challenging to “get into” because nothing makes all that much sense.
