For many, it is a movie, a story, a good movie of a moving story. For a few others, it happens to be their youth, their first love, their yearning, joy, desire, confusion, pain, loss, all condensed in the two hours and unfolding in front of their own eyes. I am 48 and came to age in that era. I was transported back to my youth and the cultural context. It lets me re-experience a sensation that has more or less been forgotten over the years, the painful struggle to find the courage for self-accepting. So yes, tears naturally came many times, and they are salty, tasted exactly like 30 something years ago.
I hope that they reconnect at the end and pick up where they left, and now with years of life experiences, renew their relationship with strength and maturity. Time is powerful in its qualities of both changing and preserving things.
Thanks for making this important movie.
