This author has a way with words with such grace and dignity she presents tough stories and adventures of many of those who came before us. The Personal Librarian is a work of art, during a time when a beautiful queen didn’t feel safe or good enough to be her true self due to how societies deemed her by the color of her skin. Belle has always dreamed of working in a library and being a librarian. However, due to the times this book is set in the 1900’s Belle passes herself off as a white woman instead of the black woman that she is. She goes through oppressions, heartbreak, love, loss and questioning her self-worth. The book has me intrigued by J P Morgan and now I want to read more about him. I felt so sad about her father’s choice to leave the family. It is difficult for me to understand life choices that were made in the book. Overall, I was glad it became a binge read. I look forward to more books by the authors.
