For what it is, a light, sunny, amusing, sometimes silly romance with the always-excellent Cillian Murphy and a suitably comedic Lucy Liu. Straight to video.

Rating this is anything less than five stars I just do not understand. People are probably downgrading it because it's not a happy movie. It's not a fantasy movie. It's not a movie full of fake heroes and implausible escapist science fiction and fantasy caped masked heroes. It's a real movie about real people living real lives. If you can't cope with that, then yeah fine don't see it. But if you live in the real world where not everything is fantasy and happy and perfect and glossy, then go see it. Do you like to be challenged, provoked and made to think about the real world and the choices we have to make, then go see it. Absolutely. If you thought Cillian Murphy was good in oppenheimer, he has exceeded himself in this film. Far beyond. It's in LIMITED RELEASE ONLY, it will be gone soon, it's a bloody brilliant film. Cillian Murphy again proves what an astounding actor he is. If you miss it, your loss. If you do can live with being provoked, challenged, made to think about how you live your life and how others are forced to live their lives, then see it. It's a challenging thought-provoking important film about the real world. And an FYI, the institutions that this film is about, the Magdalene Laundries, closed only in 1996. Think about that when you see the film. Merry Christmas

Fabulous film. Cillian Murphy can do all. Murphy's films are always intelligent and they require you to pay attention and to listen and to see. But you reap the reward as Cillian excels again. In spades. Just like he does in Breakfast on Pluto.
