Found by happenstance in the Abiquiu Library, I happened upon a treasure, Driftless by David Rhodes. Rhodes’ clean style sneaks around the inhabitants of the tiny community Words, and in a series of short chapters, each one centered on one or more inhabitants, Rhodes manages to bring us face to face with so many currents of both experiences and thoughts that increasingly define the milieu of twenty-first century life in America.
