After watching the 4th episode, there are a few positives and negatives about this show.
1. The battle scene in the first episode was awesome. However, when will there be another battle scene with the master chief? The story so far about master chief figuring out his past and feeling emotions is interesting but come on... this is halo... add a few fight scenes here and there. In addition, I wish they would have held off from Master Chief regaining his emotions for a few episodes so that we all could see the MC as the badass MC we all know him to be.
2. In the first episode master chief takes off his helmet and reveals his face... How much more anticlimatic could they have made that?
3. I don't have any problems with how Cortana was created and I thought it was rather creative.
4. Please... please for all that is good and holy... please get rid of Kwan. Her character is completely pointless. In addition, I have never seen a character that is more annoying. She's been annoying the first 3 episodes but once I watched the 4th episode, I literally wished I could just slap the living s**t out of her. I was hoping the she would get shot or killed by the assassin. She is very cringe as well. This is "Halo"... not "The Last Samuri" trying to gain honor or whatever. Very annoying.
5. From reading the description of the 4th episode, I thought it would be interesting to see Kia experience emotions. Boy was I wrong! I expect to see Kia in the next Cyberpunk game, if another one does come out. Instead of following Master Chief's footsteps in trying to figure out her past, she becomes kinda bratty and childish and a wannabe badass. Her character acts somewhat awkward at times as well. While watching the 4th episode, watching how Kia unravels herself has literally (no exaggeration) caused me to pause the episode, get up, walk away from the screen, and say out loud, "Why? Why would they allow this? This is terrible."
6. I do not mind that this does not stick to the books and games. It's interesting for sure. This is of course personal opinion.
7. Throughout all 4 episodes, we rarely see him with his helmet on... need I say anything more on this subject? As a viewer, I don't feel like the Master Chief is... well... the master chief. Don't get me wrong... Knowing they have decided to reveal master Chief's face in the first episode obviously means that his face should be shown in episodes after. However, when it's to the point that I'm wondering if the Master Chief lost his helmet or threw it away, there's a problem.
Overall, this is an interesting show but with many flaws. This is a lot better than any Halo movie though. The show still has potential to save itself even though it's fighting an uphill battle. If the show doesn't save itself soon though, this show will become a complete disaster. The slope is very slippery for this show right now. I, as well as many others, hope to see improvements. I can say that I can tell they have invested some decent money into this show. They just need some changes. This 2-star rating is subject to change once more episodes are released.
