Brilliantly funny and scathing interpretation of a dark period in modern history. Behind the humour, there is a chilling representation of heightened fear as ordinary citizens fall foul of those in power. The main characters, vain, vicious and jostling for power, distrust each other yet are equally dependent on the approval of their comrades. Wonderful acting and an entertaining if disturbing take on the Stalin era.
