This show has a lot of redeeming qualities: the dedication to period-accuracy is highly apparent, the cultural-isms of New York and Jewish familiesโฆall very well done. However, the main character goes from a spoiled, catty, but very charming rich girl to an insufferable, entitled brat with zero insight and no parenting skills. She repeatedly, and nonchalantly, ruins others lives and plays the victim instead of taking responsibility. The other characters lack depth, and the plot shifts all over the place leaving many unsatisfied avenues open. Basically the character development is seriously lacking and it results in a show that, while semi-entertaining, is highly predictable, has a lot of obvious plot-holes, and is, at times, maddeningly stupid. At bare minimum, itโs fun to see the set and costumes accuracy, and for the characters of Susie, her manager, and Lenny Bruce, another comic.
