Hi, you've found a review that isn't 1 star or 5 stars. I think I'm the first. It's.. decent for a low-level, beginner book for German (that's what I'll write about because it's all I've seen). It works, I could read it, but did i enjoy it? no. i learned a few words while reading it, but studying the words would have been easier and i would have hated it significantly less. the only reason for the second star is the fact that i was able to read it as a first-level student. the plot is just hot garbage. anna is whiny and i don't know how her family puts up with her. on a better note, someone's sister wrote a new ending, and it was essentially "and then peasants burned anna," which my class went wild for. also, Arme Anna is used as an insult. if that doesn't say something about anna, idk what does. recently, we were writing stories in the past tense, and we wrote about anna in a purgatory with only an infinite amount of unsalted peanuts. my class loves to cause anna pain when we can :)
