If 2020 was a movie, it'd be this.. Unfortunately I didn't finish this off because I got bored (I obviously knew what will happen as its word for word copy and paste). First of all I want to say Varun Dhawan proved himself in so many movies so I know he's not a bad actor, given the right role he will prove himself but in this he's acting like Govinda and mithun both so it's very cringe to watch.
Firstly I'll start with the movie itself. We know the story, more or less the same just a few scenes here and there changed and Sara's family and Co are Christians instead. Which leads me to my first question, how come a Hindu pandit went to his house with a rishta in the first place randomly for the ppl who seemed like Hindus? After the beizati ka laddoo, the pandit wants revenge and so happens to find raju coolie whose already head over heels Sara. This coolie is so dumb that he is carrying, without any reason, suitcases that have the convenience of wheels and he can just drag🤔. Then dumbo and bimbo meet. Why she bimbo? Because it doesn't occur to her to check this supposedly rich and famous Prince guy whose building a port, on Facebook, Instagram or Google? Thought this was 2020. Not even LinkedIn? No really woman?!
OK now acting. Varun is capable of acting outside his dad's movie, he overacts so much in his dad's movies. He was acting like Govinda then mithun, it was embarrassing. Sara, I thought she was promising after kedarnath. Thought she had potential to be next alia bhatt but after love aaj kal 2 and this, I think she's some more lessons not to mention she looks weird when she cries. I don't think she tries to mimic karisma however but she cannot bring the innocence and naivity Karismas character had. I couldn't find chemistry between them either. Paresh Rawal, top actor for me unfortunately made me miss Kader Khan so much. I felt Kader Khan was one of the main character in the original however in this PR just was put to the side. I didn't get his "heaven on the docks..." dialogue either. I think they were trying to create a memorable dialogue like hoshiyar chand ki hoshiyar kaisi lagi but failed. Rest of the side actors have proved themselves before however fall short in this movie, aren't given much scope. Sorry its a nono from me. David Dhawan created magic in the 90s but some things can't be remade. Sorry for harsh criticism
