Way too much cursing and sexual references for a demographic that in real life does not talk like that (yes, there’s real epidemiological community-level trend data that supports this). I made a horrible assumption that since Benjamin Flores Jr. was in it, that it would be in line with other works he has been it. In short, it is NOT! His language was the worst of the entire cast, to the point that it was laughable, like they were almost trying too hard to have him intentional use horrible language a lot...and sadly, he co-signed on it. I stopped it 35min in as it was simply ridiculous and forcing a false narrative of behavior that is not accurate nor necessary. It absolutely added NOTHING to the film and was more of a distraction (and this is coming from someone who served in the Marines and is use to rough language).
I honestly hurt for this young brother as he is too talented and valuable to degrade himself by taking such a role. As a person of color, we bare a responsibility of not fulfilling the stereotypes proliferated in many media avenues. In this case, my young brother played directly into the stereotype that so many fight so hard to destroy.
In short, I cannot stress enough the degree to which I DO NOT recommend this film.
