I enjoyed the first episode. I watched it in one go on a rainy afternoon. By the last episode I was totally fed up of it's ploddy, heavy handed dialogue and obvious plot. Full of incredulous choices (why would the legal characters risk their jobs with such outlandish decisions?). I thought it was going to be one of those gentler crime stories like Richard Osman's but, despite the great cast, the storyline was appalling and it could have been condensed into half the time. I've never written a poor review before but this sadly was total rubbish.

Ian Mckellan was incredible in this film. All the actors were well cast but it's really Mckellan's film. Mark Strong's beautifully played a principled man, Gemma Arteton and Lesley Manville, as her mother, were superb in their roles and the film was beautifully shot. I don't want to give away any of the script but personally I recommend this film.

This started so well but then I just felt duped, that it was created content and she was faking the whole anxiety about climbing. Maybe I'm cynical but the wristbandage was there apparently long before her injury in the earlier footage. If they'd stuck to the climbing and preparation of these extreme endeavours and made it a more plausible and shorter film I'd have loved it. Can't take away their audacious spirit but would have liked to keep it all about the climb.
