The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an absurdly fun, well-rounded experience that every gamer needs to try at least once.
First and foremost, the gameplay is excellent. The unique gameplay mechanics allow for players to forge their own paths and solve problems in an endless multitude of ways, making progression feel far more rewarding than any linear game experience can provide.
The world of Hyrule itself is jam-packed, building on the vast world established in the game's predecessor and expanding on it in an innovative way that rewards exploration. The content in this game is virtually endless, with new experiences to be found all over, ranging from high above the clouds to the depths of the land.
TOTK features a somewhat cartoonish art style that may initially seem odd, but in practice, fits the game astonishingly well. The art style, while not as graphically detailed as other games, is unique and stunning in its own right.
The music of the game is also outstanding. From the ambient noises heard in the wilderness to the grand themes of boss battles, the game's music is exceptional and complements the gameplay superbly.
The only somewhat lacklustre aspect of TOTK is the story. While the story in itself is not the issue, the roundabout and fragmented manner in which it is told is the primary issue. This causes the story to be somewhat difficult to fully comprehend for those who do not sit down and manually piece everything together.
Overall, TOTK is honestly a contender for one of the greatest video games of all time. The unique gameplay mechanics, the vast world, the unique art style, the amazing music, and the captivating story all come together harmoniously to create a timeless masterpiece that will never be forgotten.
