SPOILER AHEAD A raw, thought-provoking, and beautiful film. The story is about a boy, Renato on his puberty and the most beautiful widow in town, Maléna. The town is tight-knit community which made up gossips, rumors, scandal, and tell-tales can be heard easily by ear. Maléna is a victim, the town branded her as a person of use. The perverted stares from men and envy from women. They would love to use her and leave, the lonely widow became an attraction. Men wouldn't hire her. afraid of the wrath of their wife. Women won't sell her any good produce to eat. She is basically a black sheep, which is amusing considering she is very alluring. Renato wanted to protect Maléna from the town, knowing that they are wolves amongst sheeps, he wanted to become an adult immediately. He stalked Maléna and saw a hole on her window and looked inside it every night. Renato was the only one that saw Maléna when she danced and when emotions pour out, I guess it was the way of the film saying that Renato began to see inside her soul and not just her physical body. At first, it was lust but then he learns courage from her. His lust for her became love with a tinge of pity. A scandal broke out between the dentist, the sheriff, and Maléna, which the lawyer took advantage and used her. She had enough, the town broke Maléna. She cut her own hair and dyed it red, went with the alleged prostitute (I don't know if Maléna was prostituting). When the war was finally over, Maléna was beaten by women, battered, and bloody. She felt violated. Maléna took a train and left town. Her husband went back to town, looking for her wife Maléna. Renato finally had that little courage and left a note to him on where she went. At the end of the movie, Maléna came back to town and for once, with her "not-dead" husband. The women (who beat her) went saying along with the lines of "courage" and "she became fat and she got wrinkles on her eyes", with no ounce of shame and guilt they greeted her, Maléna was forced to greet back, unless they wouldn't accept her. Men only stared at the couple, "maybe" respecting Maléna because she now has her husband back and likewise with her husband. It is wretched but true, only women drag women down because of their insecurities and men would only watch for their entertainment and might even get a piece of the cake. 10/10 might re-watch again.

Mediocre at best. The message itself is powerful and can relate to most women but after that 3-minute orgasm, the whole story IS boring to say the least. The story is desperate, but the actors and actresses did their best so-. At most, for me is 2 stars.

How lucky am I to be a part of this movie. It highlights love, family, friends, strangers that would help you, grief, loss, sickness, and they were all beautiful. I laughed at the script and loved the characters! I only recently watched this after watching 9 to 5 acted by Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton. I wanted to support them by watching the movie that they starred in and they were all fantastic!

I loved the movie and the history behind it. This movie was filmed because of women getting minimum wages and worked at 9 to 5. Times were rough in those years, the public needs jobs because of the weak economy and recession. The characters are sometimes the people that we see everyday, having the same situation which is funny because this film is 42 years old! This gave me a lot of laughter and a lot of love to the actors and actresses. I am currently now downloading and watching their shows and movies. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin's Netflix comedy show that struck me the most is "Grace and Frankie"- itwas also an entertaining and an eye-opener.

A raw, unfiltered, beautiful movie. It highlights grief, love, pain, broken ties, moving on, and choices that we made- that make us who we are today. Time will not tell who you are just because it can't stop, it's you who make those choices. It talks about abortions and low wages but, it sees both sides of a coin. There are more yet to be done when you're old, you don't just wait and die. Getting old does not also mean that you should be getting to understand yourself (e.g. anger issues). For people that rated this low because it makes them uncomfortable, shame on you. You are missing out the point of the movie. Bravo to all the actors, bravo.

The storyline was original and it's comedy gold! The jests and witticisms are not always based on sexual innuendos (some are but fresh) which is rampant on today's comedy movies and is getting kind of dull. I like how the story progressed and how they got into the train and put on disguises! This film is excellent and proves how back in time are also the good days.

This movie made it's mark on my existence. It's truly heartfelt and memorable. Maybe rewatching this once in a while might trigger nostalgia. A 10 out of 10, definitely in the list of my top 5 romcom movies.
