You will need to use your powers of suspension of disbelief and not in the same way someone would watch a James Bond or Mission Impossible movie. Poor acting and the protagonist is just not believable. Also note that the most disgusting aspects of human nature are showcased in this movie, so that is something else to consider before watching this movie.

Two stars is being generous. This movie could have been good but between the poor dialogue, inane protagonist, unlikely plot and an overly long storyline, it just failed miserably. The only good thing about this movie is the presence of Jason Bateman.

This movie is not a sequel to Twister from the 1990s, so knowing that helps to get you into the right mindset. I would have given more stars but the acting wasn’t great in a number of the scenes, which made it difficult to get through. Bottom line, if you like big, catastrophic-based movies, you’ll probably like this.

In this movie’s defense, I set a high bar when I saw the cast of this movie included Amy Adams, Gary Oldman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Julianne Moore. These are top-notch actors who should be ashamed of themselves for making this movie. Overall, the character development was poor. For example, Amy Adams character is not relatable and rather frustrating to understand given her inability to convey coherent thought. Gary Oldman’s character did nothing but scream and threaten which was not even necessary in some scenes. The surprise antagonist doesn’t make sense and frankly given that Amy Adam’s character is a child psychologist and suspected nothing, tells you how poorly the character development is with this person.

Pros: The movie is scary. The acting is good. Cons: Here's where it goes sideways and yes this is harsh, but this is what we were dealt by the movie. The two grown men (main characters) in charge are weak, bumbling, clueless, and don’t possess much foresight. Who would “forget” his child’s asthma meds and tie a helpless dog outside when the alien enters the human’s home? If this was the writer’s way of putting the “dumb shoe” on the other foot and have the men come across stupid, it was a bad idea. Pros: The two male/main characters aside, the movie’s ending makes this movie worth watching.

It started off slow and implausible but actually got better towards the end. Once you know that the antagonist is not some hookey ghost, the suspension of disbelief lessens and the movie takes on a more psychological thriller feel versus horror. The acting is pretty good but the two main characters needed a bit more character development. Also, the movie is a tad long, but all-in-all, it was a fair movie.

One star should tell you everything you need to know. Ugh!

Wow! Astonishingly bad movie. The acting, premise, and protagonist are all terrible. No motive. No reason. Antagonist is not identified.

Excellent program with superb acting by all. Very impressed and thrilled to come across this gem.

I don’t want to ruin the movie for those who haven’t seen it, but Sam Worthington’s character (protagonist) is plain horrible. Very difficult to believe anyone would act the way this character does under the circumstances. This character is actually frustrating and made the movie lousy.
