Frankly a fantastic series of books, butchered for cheap thrills.
The suggestion of statistics predicting the future of the masses has been destroyed by the decision to have a few characters have such a large impact on all outcomes. Rather than 'statistically someone will rise to fill this role' the roles are mystically predetermined. Rather than one particular character being divergent from the norm, there are fancyful mystic powers rife in the series. This rips all plausibility and logic from the core principle that the sum of humanity is predictable using mathematics and statistics.
It is an interesting story in its own right. But it has very little relation to the books in my opinion.
I'm surprised how much this disappointed me.
