Absolutely amazing book. The dislikes, I imagine, come from die hard capitalist, aka libertarians, which get taken to task by this book. Myself for instance, use to support libertarian ideas more than any other political ideology. I was, and still am, a die hard fan of John Stossel, but I realize now that the free market cant regulate itself. The unregulated free market failed, for the same reason as why communism, fascism and socialism failled, because the natural characteristic of man to be greedy. The book seems to lead the leftist to socialism, however if you pay attention to every detail and quit reading every few pages to really think about what this information, presented by the book, means, then you wil realize the answer is regulated capitalism. One quote that stuck with me, and seemed to be glanced over my by girlfriend, was that one, elder miner mentioned how "normal" circumstances were as a child. They were so bad that george orwell was even taken back and couldnt imagine it. That line shows that even tho these miners were in a miserable condition things were getting better. Not only getting "better", but at an astonishing rapid pace. Generations were seeing the easement as time passed. Something never before seen on the face of this planet. Incredibly deep book and im glad im done with it because it took a huge toll on my psychie and sleep time.
