The battle scenes where hard to follow. The film is more about the three main characters than the actual «forgotten battle» of the scheldt. Okey... i understand it is not a documentary.
The film did do a good job in portraying the Battle of Walcharen Causeway, part of Operation Infatuate. The narowness of it and the big crater in the middle that ended up being used as a company command post.
Also, the film did a great job to immerse you in the grittiness and horror of living under German occupation.
I give five stars, because as a Canadian, this is the first WW2 film that portrays the Canadians as the main army. Not surprising that this first would come in a Dutch film!!! thanks friends!!
I was very well pleased to see the blue shoulder patch of the 2nd Canadian Division. Yes a very small detail, but it shows that the producers really did their research on this. On one shoot we can even see the regimental insignia of the Black Watch Canadian Highland Regiment. C company of this regiment was the first to attempt the crossing of the causeeway.
