Disappointed. I thought this was going to a linear, evolutionary journey from the start of life until the present day. (And I was very excited!) Instead, it's a wildlife documentary with bits of historical context. The images were spectacular and the CGI wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I hated the time hopping - it would start in the past, skip to the present, go back even further, then resume the original time. I was also disappointed in the lack and breadth of prehistoric animals, including nothing on human evolution. (And, minor quibble, but the number of times the word "dynasty" was said was slightly annoying.) I did, however, appreciate the climate change warning at the end.
As context, I'm an interested layperson with a background in history and art. I have a working knowledge of evolution and paleontology, mainly read science and history nonfiction, and a paleontology podcast ("Common Descent") is one of my favourites.
