I eventually enjoyed the live action remake after a couple times of watching it. I really like how they built on Eric and Ariel’s chemistry and added more scenes between them. I like Eric’s new song and Ariel’s “Part Of That World”. I like Melissa’s portrayal of Ursula as well. However, I miss the comedy from the original with Scuttle and with Sebastian. I liked how King Triton has more emotion in the original as well whereas in the remake, his tone of voice doesn’t match his angry words. I miss the looks of Flounder, Scuttle and Sebastian from the original. And I prefer the ending in the original as I really enjoyed seeing Eric as a hero in the end of the original and liked the wedding in the original. Sadly, there was no wedding in the remake at the end, but only the aftermath of it. Other than that, overall it was a pretty good movie. I guess it’s best to watch it as its own movie and not comparing it to the original so much.
