Although well written and narratively compelling, the overwhelming British bent would make this novel fit right at home in 19th century British propaganda. At every turn Harvey bemoans the French while salivating at his morally and intellectually superior British. If you want a balanced history of the Napoleonic wars go elsewhere - if you want conservative British propaganda wrapped in faux historical gleam than War of Wars is right for you.
